With the launch of our new product “Nosh Detox” it brings up a great topic of why detoxing is important. Juice detoxes are perfect for losing weight, renewing your energy, or purifying your system after a prolonged period of “junky” eating.

Naturally, our liver, kidney, lungs and lymph glands filter these toxins in our system. However, sometimes our system can become overloaded with impurities. In the modern world we live in, there are more toxins from processed foods we eat, to the chemicals in the lotions we use, so there’s an even greater need to aid our body’s natural detoxification process!

If you’re going to start a juice detox, make sure it doesn’t contain just pure juice. Most juice detox drinks only contain the juice of the fruit, which means there’s A LOT of sugar! Why would you detox with more junk?

A good juice detox contains the whole substance of the fruit which is rich in fiber and doesn’t just leave the sugar. Think of it as a loose smoothie.

How do you know if your body is overwhelmed with toxins?

Here are some signs that might be indicators:

  • Unexplained fatigue
  • Feeling sluggish
  • Skin irritation
  • Allergies
  • Puffy eyes or bags under the eyes
  • Bloating
  • Low-grade Infections
  • Menstrual problems

Even if you’re not necessarily experiencing these symptoms, in general, detoxing is a good thing to do regularly.

It’s important to keep in mind that juice detoxes are not for everyone. The Nutrition Research Center recommends that those with serious health issues such as heart conditions, diabetes, liver and kidney problems, or those who are pregnant, etc. should avoid detoxing. It’s always safest to consult your doctor about whether a detox would be beneficial for you.
