Happy New Year! We wanted to start the new year with a new way for you to store and share our recipes in a fun, convenient way! We have created an account on Yummly. What does this mean for you? We are now adding the “Yum” button to all of our recipes on our blog, so you can add our recipes or your own to your personal recipe box on your Yummly account!

If you’re still wondering what the heck Yummly is, it’s like a glorified Pinterest. It’s a great way to search for recipes with certain ingredients or recipes that omit certain ingredients (like dairy, gluten, meat etc) You have recipes from all over the world at your finger tips. You can even ask cooking questions and create shopping lists based on a certain recipe. How easy is that? Yeah, that’s why we’re excited about Yummly too!

To kick things off, we want to share with you the perfect, festive snack to ring in 2016! Don’t forget to add it to your Yummly recipe box!

Maple Spiced Popcorn

(serves 2)

Maple Spiced Popcorn


1/3 cup popcorn kernels
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

Pinch of fresh nutmeg

1 tablespoon dairy free butter
1 tablespoon maple syrup
Optional: 1/4 teaspoon salt


Pop the popcorn following your preferred method. Combine the cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg in a small bowl.
Melt the butter either in the pan or in the microwave and whisk in the maple syrup. Drizzle this over the fresh popcorn; stirring the popcorn as you pour to make sure it gets evenly distributed. Sprinkle half the spice mixture over the popcorn, cover the bowl with a dinner plate, and shake vigorously. Taste the popcorn and if you’d like more spice, add the other half of the spice mix and shake again. Eat immediately!
