Hello Summer! When hot days approach, it’s normal we aren’t spending as much time cooking over a hot stove for each and every meal. In fact, we often find ourselves avoiding it at all costs!
If you’re ready to kick off summer and provide your family (especially kids) with snacks they’re sure to love, we’ve got some awesome ideas for you! Be sure to check out our choices for summer snacks and incorporate them into your schedule as these hot summer months approach us!
Fruit and Yogurt Parfait
Nothing goes as good together quite like fruit and yogurt does. This snack is easy, simple, and requires only a few ingredients – which you can personalize depending on your preferences!
Grab your favorite type of yogurt and scoop some into the bottom of a bowl. Then, you’ll add in delicious fruits like blueberries, blackberries, bananas, kiwis, strawberries, or any others you enjoy. Top with your favorite granola, chia seeds, dried fruit, and/or honey to add some extra sweetness.
We absolutely love this recipe and its versatility. You can change up the ingredients to make the recipe different every time, making it great for kids! Best of all, it doesn’t require a lot of preparation or cleaning!
Chipotle Guacamole
One of the best parts of summer is fresh avocado! Mash up some avocados with lime juice, red onion, cilantro, jalapeños, garlic, or create a recipe of your own to serve with some delicious chips!
This is a great snack for cooling down after a long, hot day. You can even enjoy guacamole with toast, veggies like cucumbers, carrots, or celery, or pretzels instead of the traditional chips. Whichever way you enjoy your guacamole, we fully support it!
Veggies + Dip
A great way to get kids to eat their vegetables is to make them fun! What better way to do that than to give them their own cup full of vegetable dip, with a few veggies on top of it? (Bonus points if you can use a cup with one of their favorite characters on it!)
Vegetables are something we all should probably incorporate into our diets more often. In the summer, they’re a great snack that’s perfect for storing in the fridge for a few days until you’re ready to chop them up and enjoy them!
Try to incorporate cucumbers, celery, carrots, peppers, broccoli, or any of your favorite vegetables. You’ll be surprised just how much your kids will love having the dip to enjoy as well as the fresh veggies!
