If one of your goals is to lose weight this year, then start your morning off with a substantial breakfast. It gets your metabolism working and helps you stay mentally focused throughout the morning. It’s amazing how my productivity declines when I haven’t had enough to eat for breakfast. Your brain needs nourishment!

Smoothies are a delicious and a healthy way to start the morning, but how many of you get hungry about an hour later after having one? Most smoothies just aren’t filling enough!

To solve this problem, we came up with our banana oatmeal smoothie. We recently made breakfast for a doctor who is one of our clients and his staff at one of their morning staff meetings. One of the things we brought was this Banana, Pineapple Oatmeal smoothie and it was instantly a hit!

The oatmeal is what makes this smoothie substantial (along with chia seeds if you choose to add that) and when I drink it in the morning, it holds me over until lunch time or later!

Banana Oatmeal Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple, chopped
  • 1/4 cup oatmeal
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (this is what makes it taste so good!)
  • Optional: 2 tbsps chia seeds for added protein

Directions:

Blend all the ingredients together until smooth. Keep in mind, depending on how thick you like your smoothies, you will need to add more coconut milk or water until it reaches your desired consistency. You could also make this with 1/2 cup of coconut milk (the kind in the can) or water. Whatever you prefer!

This is one of our favorite ways to start our mornings, so I hope you enjoy!
